Day 1: San Cristóbal Island
Galapagos Bird Life, Land, and Marine Exploration
This morning we will hike to Cerro las Tijeretas or Frigate Hill, which gets its name from the large number of Frigate Birds (Tijeretas) that live and nest here. On our walk along the lava rock trails we will be able to see interesting endemic plants and the spectacular birdlife of the Galapagos. There are great views of the coastline and our first encounter with the underwater marine life at Darwin bay.
We continue on to the striking Carola Beach where we can take another dip if we want. Here you will find sea turtles, sea lions, and marine iguanas.Back at Mann Beach we can kayak (additional cost), providing a perfect end to a perfect active and relaxed day in these enchanted islands. Day 2: San Cristóbal Island
Choose one of the below two options:
Highland San Cristobal
In the morning we will visit Cerro Colorado Reserve. From the entrance of the Reserve we will walk slightly more than a kilometer to Puerto Chino beach. This is a spectacular beach where you can find endemic plant species and colonies of seals and other animals, and where we will have time to snorkel. After an enjoyable box lunch in the Reserve, we will drive to the highest part of the island where we will visit and take a relaxed walk around El Junco lagoon. This body of water is the largest source of fresh water on the island. (B. L.) (Private Tour)
Underwater Life
Today we leave early from Baquerizo Moreno Port and head to the impressive Leon Dormido or Kicker Rock, but before getting there we will try out our snorkeling gear in a small protected bay with calm water and playful sea lions.
Leon Dormido, made of two rocks in the form of an obelisk jutting dramatically out of the sea, is considered one of the top snorkel and dive sites in the Galapagos, and here we use our snorkeling equipment to explore a channel between the rocks. Stingrays, white-tipped reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, turtles, tropical fish and eagle rays all live in the waters around Leon Dormido and if you are lucky you may even get to spot dolphins and whales! Day 3: Full day cruise to Espanola
Full day cruise to Espanola
This Island is located two hours from San Cristóbal, it is the southernmost island and one of the oldest in the Galápagos archipelago. The island's flat profile is extremely dry with only a few inches of rain per year. Despite the dry climate the island is one of the world's only known nesting sites for the Waved Albatross (aka Galapagos Albatross). From April to December this island is covered with these adorably clumsy birds. Blue-Footed and Nazca Boobies as well as many other bird species also call this island home. There are also other unique species found only on Española Island is the Green and Red Marine Iguana (also known as Christmas Iguanas). Quite often you will be greated by these colorful reptiles. (B.
